ANITA BRECKENRIDGE, MD

Dr. Breckenridge is a board certified fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist with over 15 years experience.   She did her specialty training at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  Extensive training and experience make Dr. Breckenridge one of the few ophthalmologists in Northern California who can manage both complex pediatric and adult strabimus issues whether surgical or nonsurgical in nature.  Dr. Breckenridge and her staff are also uniquely qualified to provide complete eye care to special needs children and adults. 

 

Dr. Breckenridge grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec receiving a B.Sc in Anatomical Sciences. She then returned to her hometown and graduated with honors from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington DC.  After medical school, Dr. Breckenridge spent a transitional intern year at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California.  She then returned to the East Coast and completed a three year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.  She spent her last year as chief resident.

 

Immediately following residency, Dr. Breckenridge joined a successful ophthalmology practice in a small town on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington.  As a general ophthalmologist she built a busy practice in just under two years.  When family demands brought her back to the East Coast, Dr. Breckenridge took the opportunity to further her training by completing a fellowship in pediatric ophthamology at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

 

In 2001, following completion of her fellowship, Dr. Breckenridge joined Pediatric Eye Associates in Livingston, NJ. Over ten years, she built a thriving well-respected practice serving thousands of children of all ages with eye disorders as well as adults with strabismus and double vision.

 

Dr.Breckenridge took over Children's Eye Care of Los Gatos in 2011, and since that time the practice has expanded greatly drawing pediatric and adult patients from as far as Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Monterey, and even Seattle. She is affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital and performs procedures at Los Gatos Surgical Center as well.

LISA SLAVIT, OD

Dr. Lisa Slavit received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from San Jose State University and her optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry.

 

Dr. Slavit has been practicing optometry for over 20 years in a variety of clinical settings including pediatric, geriatric and general optometry.  As a valuable member of the Children’s Eye Care Staff for over a decade, Dr. Slavit has extensive experience in treating pediatric patients five and under, including nonverbal exams.  She is proficient at fitting pediatric contact lenses and provides guidance to patients in the area of home vision therapy.  Dr. Slavit is also a well- trained surgical assistant for both pediatric and adult strabismus cases. 

 

Dr. Slavit is a California native and now resides in Palo Alto with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys aerobics, cultural activities and volunteering at her children’s school.

 

LINDA ZHAO, OD

Dr. Linda Zhao joined Children’s Eye Care of Los Gatos in 2014. She grew up in the Bay Area, attended the University of California at San Diego, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. Her clinical training included rotations at SUNY for ocular disease and vision rehabilitation, the VA Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, and a local private practice specializing in primary care, pediatric eye care, and vision therapy.  She understands the intricate needs of children and has extensive experience managing binocular vision disorders such as strabismus and amblyopia. She helped the office implement an exciting myopia control program. She enjoys working alongside the amazing team at Children’s Eye Care.

 

Dr. Zhao is passionate about healthy living, nature and art, and staying involved in the community.

OUR STORY

Children's Eye Care of Los Gatos was originally established in its current location in 2007 by Dr. Beth Green who has now retired. The practice has always provided comprehensive pediatric and adult strabismus care in a patient-friendly and comfortable environment. Located on a neighborhood street, the Almond Grove office creates a pleasant home-like setting and is close to shopping, dining and parks.

 

Anita Breckenridge, MD, a pediatric ophthalmologist, joined the practice in 2011 and provides comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmic care for children of all ages as well as adults with double vision and alignment disorders. She was previously in a successful pediatric ophthalmology practice in northern New Jersey from 2001 - 2011.

 

Janis Moore, OD and Lisa Slavit, OD have been a part of Children's Eye Care of Los Gatos since its inception and Linda Zhao, OD joined the practice in 2014. All three optometrists assist Dr. Breckenridge with the eye exams for children and select adults. As well, they perform independent contact lens fittings for older children and teens.

 

Marianne, Nadia, and Maria manage all the scheduling, insurance, surgical and billing concerns for the practice. They are an essential part of the friendly and efficient patient experience provided at Children's Eye Care of Los Gatos.

 

The office is also multilingual, with staff available who speak Spanish, Mandarin and Croatian fluently.
